Fishing Achievement Moment

Current Projects

Marine Fisheries Alliance is actively working to protect our waterways, support marine research, and inspire the next generation of conservationists. Our current projects combine hands-on youth education, fish tagging, and waterway cleanups to create a lasting impact on South Florida’s marine environment.

Palm Beach County Youth Fish Tagging Trips

Our Palm Beach County Youth Fish Tagging Trips give young anglers a hands-on opportunity to learn about marine conservation, responsible fishing, and fisheries research. Participants help catch, measure, tag, and safely release fish while learning how tagging data helps scientists better understand and protect our marine resources within Palm Beach County.

Palm Beach County Youth Waterway Cleanups

Our Youth Education Waterway Cleanups get young people directly involved in protecting South Florida’s waterways. Participants help remove trash and marine debris while learning how pollution affects fish, wildlife, and coastal ecosystems—building environmental responsibility through hands-on conservation in Palm Beach County Waters.

North Carolina Wahoo PSAT Tagging Expedition

Our North Carolina PSAT Wahoo Tagging Expedition supports scientific research into the movements and behavior of one of the Atlantic’s most important pelagic gamefish. Working alongside experienced anglers and research partners, we deploy advanced Pop-up Satellite Archival Tags (PSATs) on wahoo to collect valuable data on migration patterns, depth, water temperature, and habitat use. This research helps scientists better understand wahoo populations and provides information that can support responsible fisheries management and long-term conservation.

Goliath Grouper Acoustic Telemetry Project

Our Goliath Grouper Acoustic Telemetry Project is designed to monitor and protect resident Goliath grouper living on South Florida shipwrecks. Using acoustic transmitters and underwater receivers, the project will track the presence, movements, and habitat use of tagged grouper while providing valuable data for marine research and conservation. The program also promotes public awareness and encourages divers and anglers to help protect these iconic reef predators.
