Why Our Work Matters
Healthy oceans depend on healthy fish populations. Many pelagic species such as wahoo, sharks, sailfish, and tuna migrate across thousands of miles of open ocean, yet scientists still know relatively little about their movements and population dynamics.
At the same time, fishing pressure and environmental changes are increasing across many marine ecosystems. Improving scientific understanding of these species is critical for making informed conservation and fisheries management decisions.
